Henry meets his fitness target with the 2015 RideLondon-Surrey 100

Henry - RideLondonHenry Sullivan wanted to take his fitness to a higher level (from a low base, so Henry claimed!). RideLondon-Surrey 100 was perfect: a distance long enough to require a few months’ weekend training, with a route of traffic-free roads lined by enthusiastic water bottle filling stations. He raised £3,000 for the 999 Club.

“I have seen at close hand the isolation and hopelessness that city living can bring to some people. The 999 Club provides immediate comfort and can direct its visitors to where additional help can be found. For the lucky ones, the 999 Club is the tipping point from despair to hope and happiness. Except it is not luck, it is the hard work of the 999 Club volunteers.”

Louisa stepped-up her running for the London Marathon

Photograph of Louisa SnowLouisa Snow had been a runner for many years when she decided to step-up the distance and run the marathon for the 999 Club in 2013 and 2014. Her commitment to the 999 Club, and to her training, inspired lots of people to donate – and Louisa raised several thousand pounds. Having begun her involvement with the 999 Club in a voluntary and fundraising capacity, Louisa was appointed our Homeless Support Team Manager in 2015.

“I feel I have been able to put my love of running to good use. This has helped me fulfill my goals and has enabled me to raise much needed funds for a cause I believe in and am fully committed to.”

The Commando Temple marathon work out!

Commando-Temple-fundraiserRob, Fitsz and Mayyah from the Commando Temple in Deptford got involved with the 999 Club after volunteering at Crisis at Christmas and finding the experience made a lasting impact on them. They immediately pledged to do something to help the homeless community on their own doorstep.

When they found the 999 Club, just around the corner from the gym, they got in touch to find out how they could help. With an enthusiastic group of staff and members keen to support the wider community, all that was missing was a fundraising event… which is how the 999 Challenge came about.

Rob devised a brutal, 4.5 hour, non-stop workout for 12 warriors. With a crowd of supporters cheering on the team, and donations from everyone involved, they raised just over £600 which keeps the 999 Centre open for a day.
