For people facing homelessness in Lewisham and Greenwich, finding somewhere safe to live can involve much more than finding a property.
Missing identification, restrictions on access to public funds and mental health challenges can make it harder to access housing and other support. Cold and wet weather add further risks for people sleeping outside.
At 999 Club, we work alongside each person to understand their circumstances and the next steps available to them.

Everyday essentials
At our Gateway drop-in centre in Deptford, members can access hot meals, showers, laundry facilities, phones and computers. Somewhere to wash, charge a phone and stay connected can make a difficult day more manageable.
Skilled support with the next steps
Our team works with members to explore housing options and address the barriers they face. Donations also contribute towards essential travel, passports and identification, so practical costs don’t stand in the way.
Protection from the cold
For members still sleeping rough, warm clothing, thermal layers and four-season sleeping bags can reduce exposure to cold and wet weather while we work together to explore safer options.

Through this appeal, we aim to:
Provide a welcoming place and practical support for an estimated 500–800 people during December and January.
Provide up to 200 winter essentials kits for members sleeping rough.
Sustain the Gateway and its skilled staff through March 2027, so members can continue accessing essential facilities, housing advice and ongoing support.
