A fundraising walk by 999 Club supporter Tessa Gooding inspired a South London artist to put pen to paper to capture her efforts in a cartoon.
Toby Farmiloe, from Peckham in South London, read about Tessa’s 32 mile sponsored walk in the local media and wanted to “celebrate her achievement”, he said.
The lawyer, who draws cartoons as a hobby, said: “I like to draw in my spare time and I wanted to do a cartoon that was positive, that had a feel-good factor. I read about Tessa’s walk on the Southwark News website and I wanted to draw in a way that celebrates her achievement. I pass homeless people every day on my way to work in the City, and when I read about what the 999 Club does, I wanted to capture all of that.”
Tessa, along with her dog Thali, raised nearly £1,000 with the 12-hour walk from Teddington Walk to the Thames Barrier late last month.
Thanks to Tessa for her fundraising feat, and to Toby for his lovely cartoon!
