Gill met the 999 Club through the Crisis What’s Next? Fair in 2018.
She had volunteered with Crisis for 5 years and wanted to do more with homelessness. At the 999 Club Gill feels she is learning all the time. She started off volunteering 2 days a week in the Day Centre and on reception and learned that a lot of times what people need is not complicated, they just need an advocate, someone to understand them.
“There are lots of great places like soup kitchens that help people. The reason I come here is because the 999 Club does that next step helping people, getting their bigger problems solved, and sometimes it’s not just housing but so many other issues like medical issues and Universal Credit.”
