The Winter Appeal
A Chance for you to Support those facing Homelessness this winter.

We know that for many people, times are tough right now, and we truly appreciate your support for this appeal. But we are also aware of just how difficult Winter and Christmas is for those who are homeless, and with issues such as the cost of living, we’re already seeing increased numbers of people using our services this year.

Tonight, thousands of people in London will be spending another night sleeping on the streets, struggling to make it through the harshness of winter without a safe, warm place they can call home.

But you can help change this.

“As a supporter, you are part of helping make change happen, and if we can raise £15,000 this winter, it will release a further £15,000 in matching funds from two very generous donors.”

Donating to our winter appeal will help us raise vital funds to support our work and help people move away from the streets, but also away from poor mental health.

The people we support are often coming to us at a real time of crisis. Step by step, we are there with them, supporting them on their journey to overcome the challenges they are facing. Whether through help with addiction, escaping domestic violence or finding a new home, we are there to help.

Our programmes engage an holistic approach, understanding the person, their situation and their challenges. This enables us to deliver immediate impact, and long-term solutions, that helps change lives. Through activities such as creative arts, gardening, cooking, we build their mental strength, help them develop new skills. We build their self-esteem, empowering them so they have a renewed sense of purpose, and a positive outlook on life with increased confidence.

For someone who is homeless or living with the fear of becoming homeless, 999 Club is here to help them, every step of the way, helping resolve their challenges and build their confidence. Your support will help us make an immediate impact to the lives of hundreds of people.

“Recent figures show a 21% increase in the number of people sleeping on the streets since 2021. We are very aware that the situation could become far worse as we head in to 2023 with more and more people living in a constant fear of losing their home, especially for those living with mental health challenges such as anxiety, fear, depression, schizophrenia and bipolar.”

      JIM’S STORY

Jim was rough sleeping for 2 ½ years before he came to the 999 Club in 2021. He was a victim of escalating domestic violence at home. His whole world fell apart in a single night when he was viciously attacked by his partner with two knives. Leaving his house, he had nowhere to go but the streets and the more time he spent rough sleeping, the worse his mental health became until he suffered a severe mental breakdown.

While sleeping on the streets, he was kicked, robbed, verbally abused and somebody even tried to set him on fire.

You can read his very honest story here >>

“People who are homeless are more likely to have poor mental health compared to the general population. Recent figures estimate that 45% of those experiencing homelessness have been diagnosed with mental health problems. Furthermore, the long term impact of living with poor mental health can often lead to people losing everything - their family, their job, their home.”
