Apply to volunteer with us I would like to volunteer as...* Gateway Volunteer Women's Sanctuary Volunteer Volunteer Coordinator Assistant Reception Volunteer Housing, Employment and Advice Team (HEAT) Volunteer As a Gateway Centre volunteer, you will help us to provide services for homeless clients in our busy Day Centre. You will work as part of a friendly team of volunteers and staff to deliver the essential services we offer. Gateway volunteers are key to the smooth running of our day centre service. Along with providing food and basic necessities, you will ensure that our clients are aware of all the services we offer and that their contact with the 999 Club is meaningful.As an activities volunteer, you will be part of a team ensuring our clients who come to the centre in a crisis are welcomed and given the opportunity to engage in activities if they are able to do so. You will be befriending, supporting, motivating and empowering. Along with delivering activities, you will ensure that our clients are aware of all the services we offer and are encouraged to engage with them. You will work alongside Peer Recovery workers to deliver activities and group work within a calm and nurturing environment.As a Co-production volunteer, you will be part of a team ensuring our clients are a part of, and have a say at, every level of the organisation. You will be working with clients, who have experienced homelessness and may be facing complex and multiple issues. You will be befriending, supporting, motivating and empowering. Along with delivering workshops and activities, you will ensure that our clients are aware of all the services we offer and are encouraged to engage with them. You will be supporting the work of the Co-production Lead and be part of innovative strategies and projects in the homelessness sector. As a reception volunteer you will provide a warm welcome to clients and visitors entering the service. You will play an essential role in ensuring that our clients are heard and that their needs are understood, documented and communicated. Where necessary, you will provide appropriate interventions and referrals. You will conduct initial assessments with our new clients, making sure they are based on a thorough understanding of the person’s presenting and underlying needs. You will input to staff on the development of action plans and referrals, both in-house and external.As a Project Volunteer you will be assisting our Project Worker to support clients who use our Day Centre. The main duty of the role will involve completing initial assessments for first time attendees but will also revolve around supporting clients with basic issues they might be facing, such as issues with their benefits or supporting them through language, literacy and other communicative barriers. When a client presents with a more complex query, understanding the relevant advisor to book them an appointment with will be key to ensuring our services run effectively. Building relationships with our clients, new and regular, will also be integral to fulfilling the Project Volunteer role, so that even if they do not require any immediate assistance, when they do they feel comfortable in requesting it.As a Women's Sanctuary Volunteer you will be helping to support clients who use our Women's Sanctuary. The Women’s Sanctuary at the 999 Club is a safe space exclusively for women. We provide a welcoming and supportive environment, both physically and emotionally. It is an inclusive space where diversity is celebrated, and differences embraced.As an assistant to the Volunteer Coordinator, you will be helping with various projects concerning volunteers. You will be working with the Volunteer Coordinator at the 999 Club and remotely from home. You will help to make the experience for volunteers welcoming, organised and rewarding by helping with the volunteer newsletter and other administrative projects.Our Housing, Employment and Advice Team (HEAT) works with people experiencing homelessness to find sustainable solutions. We provide advice and advocacy to those who are homeless or facing homelessness and work with those who need assistance dealing with the council, the DWP and other statutory organisations.
