Meet our 2026 London Marathon Runners

Gemma999 Club News, Fundraising events

There are only a few weeks to go until the London Marathon, the world’s biggest annual one-day fundraising event. This year, we’re fortunate enough to have FIVE wonderful people running the marathon to help raise money for the 999 Club’s homelessness services.

Ahead of the big day, we asked our runners why they decided to take on this incredible challenge and why they decided to support us. Scroll down to hear from Anthony, Chris, Emma, Louis and Sarah and find links to support each of their marathon fundraisers.

Anthony:

“Running The London Marathon has been a dream of mine since I was young, so being able to do it for the 999 Club makes it even more meaningful.

Having grown up around a family property business in London, I’ve seen firsthand the impact rising rents and house prices have had on people. Supporting a charity tackling homelessness in South East London is a cause I feel strongly connected to and proud to represent.”

Chris:

“I’m running for the 999 Club and the people they support, those doing their best to keep going no matter what they’re facing.

On my journey, I’ve learned that we all need a little help at some point. This is my opportunity to use something I love to give back in whatever way I can.

Emma:

“Hi everyone ❤️

I’m running a marathon to raise money for homelessness support through 999 Club. This has been something I’ve wanted to do for the last 4–5 years, especially after going through a deep loss, running soothed me, and now that I finally have a place, I’m determined to do it to support people without a home.

I’ll be taking it mile by mile — it’s going to be a real challenge, and honestly probably not something I’ll do again, but I’m going to give it absolutely everything I’ve got.

If you’re able to support with a small donation, I’d be incredibly grateful. Thank you so much for the encouragement and kindness — it truly means the world to me. 🙏”

Louis:

“I have dedicated my career to ending homelessness and rough sleeping, so having the opportunity to raise funds for an organisation that is deeply committed to fighting the cause brings a feeling of pride and motivates me to cross that finish line.”

Sarah:

“I decided to run for the 999 Club because I realised how much of a difference even a small amount of money raised could make after I started volunteering at the beginning of the year.

I was lucky enough to already have a position in the London Marathon and it felt like the perfect opportunity to raise funds and awareness for the 999 Club and for the members who I’ve met since I started volunteering.”

A massive thank you to our marathon runners for their hard work and dedication, and to everyone who has donated to their fundraisers so far. Best of luck for the 26th April!
