Greenwich architects firm bptw has three staff donning their lycra to take part in the RideLondon 100 cycling event to raise money for the 999 Club charity.

Two of the team visited us today (Wednesday) to find out more about what we do to work with people in South East London who are homeless or vulnerably housed.

The Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 event, on 4 August, takes the cyclists on a challenging 100 mile-long route starts in East London and takes in key city sights and winding Surrey roads (and hills) before finishing up at The Mall in central London.

Architectural assistant James Budd, 23, has recently moved to London from Hertfordshire and said he was inspired to take part in the charity team to give back to the community.

He added: “I have never cycled that long but I like challenging myself and I like helping other people. I may as well use my abilities to benefit other people.”

While James will be taking part in the event for the first time, architect Ho Ke, 33, is an expert, having already cycled in it previously.

He said: “I have done the RideLondon 100 before but I wanted to do it again for a purpose and not just for myself. It’s nice to be able to raise money for the community.

“It’s going to be fun – I’m excited about it. It will be good if it doesn’t rain!”

James and Ho will be joined by colleague Mladen Varbanov.

They are part of a wider team of 13 cyclists who will all be riding as Team 999 Club to raise money us.

Lots of luck to everyone who is taking part.
